A debate of the EFC Academic Forum.

A debate in the framework of the Regional Excellence Initiative (REI) titled “Economy in the New Economic Reality”

An introductory video presentation: findings of a REI project titled “New Generation in the New Economic Reality”

Overview of the debate:
Digitalisation of finance forces the society to acquire new skills or adjust the ones they already have. Existing research (some conducted at the Poznań University of Economics and Business) points to a wide variation in the financial, information/communication and digital competences of different social groups. Generational differences are particularly important for financial institutions, affecting the understanding of new technologies, their popularity and ease of use and underlying the differences in the wealth status and financial needs (relating to savings, investments, loans, payments) reported by each individual group.

Therefore, during the debate, we intend to initiate a discussion on the level of digital, financial and communication competences of ‘young’ and ‘old’ people in the context of using traditional and digital financial services (products). We will also try to examine the possibilities of bridging educational gaps in this area leading to digital and financial exclusion.
