President of the Management Board of PKO Bank Polski S.A. from October 2009 to June 2021.

He has been involved in banking and finance for more than twenty-five years. For nearly nine years he served as President of the Management Board of Pioneer Pekao TFI S.A. In the global structure of Pioneer Investments, he oversaw distribution in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region. In the second half of the 1990s, among other things, as Vice Chairman of the Board, he co-founded PKO/Credit Suisse TFI S.A.

Working at PKO Bank Polski S.A. for more than a decade, he was responsible for, among other things:

guiding PKO Bank Polski S.A. through a period of crisis turmoil in the international financial markets, while strengthening the bank’s position as a leader in terms of the size of assets, capital and profit generated in Poland and the CEE region,
preparation and implementation of strategies for the years 2010-2012, 2013-2015, 2016-2019 and 2020-2022, which resulted in an increase in assets and business efficiency, as well as increased interest in the company from domestic and foreign investors,
adaptation of the Bank to the requirements of an increasingly competitive financial market, creation and large-scale provision of advanced IT solutions, changing the Bank into a technology company with a banking license – PKO Bank of the Future,
the Bank’s involvement in the fight against COVID-19, ensuring the security of the Bank’s customers and employees, and supporting hospitals and medical personnel.

Actively involved in the development and promotion of high standards in the operation of the financial market in Poland. He is a member of the Council of the Polish Bank Association and of the prestigious Institut International D’Etudes Bancaires, which brings together the international banking community. Previously, he served, among others, as Chairman of the Council of the Chamber of Fund and Asset Managers.

He is a graduate of the Faculty of Computer Science and Management at the Wrocław University of Technology. He is currently a member of the University Council of the Wroclaw University of Technology. He also completed Postgraduate Managerial Studies conducted by the Gdansk Foundation for Management Education and the University of Gdansk, where he earned an Executive MBA certified by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.

Awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and honored with the Social Solidarity Medal for promoting the idea of corporate social responsibility. He was chairman of the Program Council of the PKO Bank Polski S.A. Foundation, which was established in 2010 on his initiative.

Recipient of numerous awards and honors. Chosen President of the Year 2011 by Gazeta Giełdy Parkiet. Twice winner of the Super Vector 2011 and 2018 awarded by the Chapter of the Employers of Poland and the Golden Banker in the Personality of the Year 2011 category. Four times recognized as Bank Manager of the Year (2011, 2014, 2016 and 2019) in the competition of Gazeta Bankowa. Bloomberg Businessweek Poland magazine ranked him among the TOP 20 Best Managers in the Polish Economy in 2012, 2014 and 2015. The BANK Financial Monthly honored him with the special award Innovator of the Banking Sector 2012. He also received the titles of Brief Monthly – Man of the Year 2013 and Dziennik Gazeta Prawna – Visionary 2013. In 2014, he was honored by Gazeta Finansowa as one of the “25 Most Valuable Managers in the World of Finance.” In 2015 awarded a medal by the PCC for supporting the development of economic self-government and entrepreneurship, and by the Foundation for the Development of Non-Cash Transactions with the eDucat statuette for his vision for the development of cashless payments and effective building of a coalition for the mobile payment standard. The industry website Mediarun.com recognized him as the most pro-market CEO, and the Responsible Business Awards chapter named him Outstanding CEO Philanthropist. In 2017, he was honored with the Lesław A. Paga Award for his contribution to the development of the Polish economy and promotion of high standards in the operation of the financial market in Poland. In 2019, recognized as the Personality of the Year in the Golden Laurel “Super Business” contest, the Finance Visionary in the “Leaders of the Banking and Insurance World” contest, honored by the Gazeta Giełdy “Parkiet” with the Byki i Niedźwiedzie (Bulls and Bears) award, selected as the most valuable president among the heads of listed companies in a ranking published by “Rzeczpospolita”. In 2020, awarded in the poll of Gazeta Finansowa Financier of the Year 2019, honored with the Economic Award of the Warsaw School of Economics and by the BANK Financial Monthly (IT@Bank ranking) with the award of the 2020 Market Visionary. And the winner of the BrandMe CEO poll organized by Forbes Monthly under the slogan “Leader in times of (forced) transformation” for his management style and strategy and their effects, adhered values and courage in taking risks and making non-obvious choices.
