Monica Mächler publishes, lectures and speaks on financial markets, including insurance law and regulation. She chairs the Advisory Board of the International Center for Insurance Regulations at the Goethe University in Frankfurt and holds positions in other non-profit organizations. She served as a member of the Board of Directors of Zurich Insurance Group AG (2013-2025), Cembra Money Bank AG (2015-2025) and Deutsche Börse AG (2012-2018).From January 2009 to September 2012, she was Vice-Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of FINMA, after having headed FOPI in 2007 and 2008. During this time, she was a member of the Executive Committee of the IAIS and chaired the Standard Setting Committee. After working as a lawyer in a business law firm, she joined the Group Legal Department of Zurich Insurance Group in 1990, where she was promoted to Group General Counsel in 1999 and to the Group Management Board in 2001.
