Maciej H. Grabowski – Doctor of Economics at the University of Gdańsk and Engineer of Navigation at the Gdynia Maritime Academy. In the 1980s, he worked for the Polish Ocean Lines as chief mate.For 18 years, he developed the Gdańsk Institute for Market Economics, where he acted as a Vice-President from 1991. His research focused on tax systems, socio-economic transitions and labour markets.From 1994 to 2000, he lectured at the University of Gdańsk. He contributed to the development of the Polish Lisbon Strategy Forum and the Polish Civil Forum.He took part in the works on the National Development Strategy 2007–2015.Starting in March 2008, he had been a member of the Board of Strategic Advisers to the Prime Minister of Poland. In November 2008, he was nominated for the post of Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Finance, where he was responsible for the tax system.From 2011 to 2013, he was a member of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. From February until November 2013 he acted as the Spokesperson for Public Finance Discipline.In the years 2013-2015 he was Minister of the Environment of Poland.
