Magdalena Proga-Stępień serves as Vice President of the Management Board responsible for the Retail Banking Division at Santander Bank Polska S.A. She oversees the individual, affluent, and SME customer segments, as well as product development, CRM, digitalization, and all distribution channels. She is also a member of the Supervisory Boards of Santander Leasing, Santander F24, Santander Finanse, and Santander TFI.
Magdalena holds a degree from the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), where she majored in Finance and Banking as well as International Economic and Political Relations. She also earned an MBA from Northwestern University in Illinois, Kellogg School of Management.
She is a leader with over 25 years of experience in financial sector transformation, change management, and business development. A passionate advocate of new technologies and digitalization, she actively promotes diversity, inclusion, and entrepreneurship. Throughout her career, she has managed large organizations, overseeing sales and distribution, digital initiatives, product development and marketing, CRM, IT and operations, as well as the development of new businesses both in Poland and abroad.
She has led large-scale digital and business transformations, designing innovative business models, strategic partnerships, and dynamic start-up environments. She has developed new remote banking solutions and digital sales models, including innovative online and mobile platforms, shaping omnichannel customer experiences.
Before assuming her current role, Magdalena served as Management Board Member and earlier as Distribution Director at Santander Bank Polska, where she was responsible for business development for the individual, affluent, and SME customer segments, as well as CRM, the development and transformation of the distribution model, and digital transformation.
From 2015 to 2020, she was associated with the Alior Bank Group, where she held the position of Director of Strategy at Alior Bank S.A. in Poland and served as CEO of T-Mobile Banking Services in both Poland and Romania. Earlier, she was affiliated with Citi Handlowy as Director of Sales and Distribution.
From 2001 to 2011, she was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, gaining extensive experience in strategic consulting in Poland and across Europe. She also held roles at Monitor Deloitte, KPMG, and Bank Austria Creditanstalt.
Magdalena possesses supervisory competencies gained as Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Bancovo (2019–2020), and as a Supervisory Board Member at Generali PTE S.A. (2015–2020). She currently serves on the Supervisory Boards of Santander Leasing and Santander TFI.
