Glyn is the Director of Housing at Southend-on-Sea City Council in the UK. Southend is a city of 185,000 people, approximately 55km from London. It is a city which made headlines across the world in 2021 following the fatal terrorist attack on a local MP, Sir David Amess. Southend has a very strong history of inward migration and a remarkable sense of cohesion, both of which are major contributors to the refugee resettlement work which Glyn leads at the City Council, including most recently in response to the collapse of the Afghan government and to the war in Ukraine. Glyn has a background in health and community services, as well as in local government, with a really clear focus on social justice. He has a M.Sc. in Public Services Commissioning from the University of Birmingham and a M.Res. in Geography from Queen Mary University of London.
